Maybe you were born into life. Maybe you were captured. Maybe you were given to pay off a debt. What ever caused you to arrive their, you found yourself under the fist of someone in power. Yet, fate decided to save you away from what others in your position might fight with. Something about you interested your captor. Perhaps you had a power, or were a ‘freak’ of nature. What ever it was, you become something like a trophy to them. A quite, disciplined trophy to look pretty.
While you might be free of hard, soul crushing labor, your life was far from perfect. Stares from nobles coming to visit, invading questions or actions done to you, and there was never the security that you would not get hurt if you disobeyed. As long as the wound could be hidden, you could be hit.
Eventually, it seems lady luck decided to smile on you for once. For some reason, you were given a chance to leave. It could be a chance encounter that helped you escape. It could have happened when they dropped their defenses, you able to fight back. Could have been a mass uprising from other slaves. So many possibilities, so many ways to freedom. Now, you are reintroduced to a world you left, hell never knew.
- Skill Proficiencies: You may either choose to gain proficiency in Stealth or Performance. You may also choose one 1 other skill you knew before or learned during your enslavement: Acrobatics, Sleight of hand, Animal handling, Arcana
- Tool Proficiencies: One tool of your choice. Could be something you used to escape. Could be something you used while you worked.
- Languages: You are able to understand and speak one language that your ‘master’ spoke. Depending on your backstory, you may or may not be able to write in said language.
- Equipment: A well made pair of clothes related to your previous work, a small trinket before or from your enslavement, 5 gp.
While you lived under someone’s rule, you picked up habits from them. They happen subconsciously. Some were a defense mechanism, to avoiding being hurt. Someone were coping habits. What ever they are, they are most definitely present. The can be stressful to deal with at times, but you have learned how to handle them.

What ever your job might have been working for your ‘master’, you learned how to read and act around others. You are well regarded by those you meet, most putting in a good word for you. While their are a few people here and their who might look down on you for your prior imprisonments, most enjoys your respect and etiquette.
Suggested Characteristics
Your personality was crafted by the people in charge of you. They built you up to be a prize to stare at, and the effects are permanently etched into your brain. Even if they were so so careful to not hurt you, mental scars are present from your time under their rule. Most former slaves will have a fear of being recaptured and forced back into their life before their escape.
