Plague Doctor Image

The profession of plague doctor is one that few envy and fewer want to pursue. It is however a necessary function of the era that unless brave souls fight back against the illnesses that sweep the land, all of civilization will be wiped out. Plague Doctors stem the flow of disease and dispose of bodies to prevent the spread throughout a community. They are easy to spot among a crowd, their mask causing fear despite their function as possible saviors. However with the appearance of a Plague Doctor, one has to wonder if they are next to need a personal visit.

Feature: Diagnosis

Though you are skilled with human anatomy and can treat wounds, poisons, or any other ailment, it is disease which is your calling. Disease is the worst ailment to befall mankind, and you root it out. You recognize the symptoms and know how to catch them quickly and stop them in their tracks. When diagnosing or treating a disease, you gain advantage on your Medicine checks. You also gain advantage on the check when determining if the ailment is caused by disease or not, and to stop a wound from becoming infected. You can also use your Intelligence score instead of your Wisdom score on Medicine checks if it is higher.

Plague Doctors are defined by their attention to detail. Because so many of the illnesses they treat often have similar symptoms, they are careful about the things they say and the questions they ask, always looking to gather precise and accurate information. They tend towards cleanliness and organization, as they need to keep their tools sterile and their supplies ready at all times.
