Whether you call them bandits, highwaymen, marauders, plunderers or pillagers, these roving gangs of violent brutes are a scourge for many people throughout the world. They are a common danger for isolated settlements and those who travel along lonely roads, seeking to steal and plunder all that they can get their hands on.
You might have been a member of a band of bandits in the past, or perhaps you still are. Whatever the case is, circumstances in your past have led you down a path of violence and brutality, often with little hope of returning to a decent life.
- Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Intimidation
- Tool Proficiencies: Vehicles (Land), and one type of gaming set
- Equipment: A gaming set, a simple or martial weapon that you're proficient in, a large sack, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp.
Thanks to your nefarious exploits as a bandit, you have built up quite a reputation. Some parts might be wholly true, while others are little more than embellished rumours. As a result, commoners and other ordinary folk tend to stay far out of your way, and shopkeepers are more than willing to knock a few gold coins off of their prices. However, you often draw the unwanted attention of other criminals and local law enforcement, who either wish to challenge you or to lock you up in a jail cell.
Suggested Characteristics
Though most bandits are little more than murderous brutes, it's not necessarily that black and white. A bandit can have a plethora of reasons for ending up in that life, and may not be particularly violent or evil at all.
