You studied under a skilled and wise master in the past. This apprenticeship may have been something you were forced into as a child, or perhaps something you sought out later in life. As an apprentice, you learned much of what you know now from your master, though they are no longer a part of your personal journey.
- Skill Proficiencies: Two of your choice
- Tool Proficiencies: One artisan’s tool or instrument of your choice
- Equipment: An instrument or artisan’s tool that you are proficient with, a letter written by your master acknowledging your potential, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 5 gp.
Master’s Absence
For one reason or another, your master is no longer a part of your journey; why is that? Work with your DM to determine the nature of their absence, or pick one of the reasons listed in the table below!

7

My master believes I must find a different master who can continue teaching me.
|
8
|
I did not live up to my potential, and so my master ended the apprenticeship.
|
Feature: Teacher’s Wisdom
Your master didn’t only share their knowledge and skills, but also their wisdom. At the DM’s discretion, whenever you succeed on a skill check with a skill you’re proficient in, you may recall words of wisdom from your master regarding the subject. This may include a recommended course of action, a probable outcome or something else.
Suggested Characteristics
For better or worse, an apprentice often takes on many of their master’s traits, ideals and personal quirks. A master may help their student become the best version of themselves, or stunt their growth in everything but their training.
