Fallen Noble

You understand wealth, power, and privilege. Though you once carried a noble title, your family's land, wealth and political influence have fallen from power. This fall might have been the result of feud with another noble family, a business deal or marriage arrangement gone wrong, a raid from foreign or criminal elements, or perhaps an offense against the crown or other higher authority. 

Work with your DM to come up with an appropriate title and reason for your fall. 

Was your family old and established, or was your title only recently bestowed? How much influence did they wield, and over what area? What kind of reputation does your family have now after the events that led to its current state? How do the common people now regard them?

What’s your position in the family? Are you the heir to the head of the family? Had you already inherited the title before the fall? How do you feel about that responsibility, or the responsibility to restore your family's name to what it once was? Or are you so far down the line of inheritance that no one cares what you do? Do you remain in your family’s good graces, or are shunned by the rest of your family?

After your fall, you turned to the underside of society, using your influence as an inroad to one or more criminal elements. Was this out of necessity for survival, or a part of a long-game plan to seek vengeance on those responsible for your fall?

Nobles are born and raised to a very different lifestyle than most people ever experience, and their personalities reflect that upbringing. The loss of such status might come with a wide shift in outlook and demeanor. Bonds with higher society break and give way to others that form with the darker and less scrupulous elements of society.
