You are a member of a tribe of no more than a few hundred people. Your tribe may come from an ancient time, following the traditions and ideals passed down through thousands of years, or perhaps its a more recently created tribe of wanderers and outcasts, just trying to survive the wilderness through cooperation and newfound companionship. Regardless of the type, your tribe, though small and away from modern society, thrives on the strength of interdependence, rather than individualism. Everyone has a part to play for the tribe's survival, and you are no different. Whether you are a simple farmer, growing crops of fruit, vegetable, or grain, or you hold a higher status in the community, assisting via leadership and decision making, all hold some responsibility, and must adhere to the needs of the tribe, rather than the needs of only one member. This was how you were raised, relying on your fellow tribe members for food, repairs, care, and companionship. Now, when you must leave your home, you rely on their guidance, which has shaped you into the person you are today, and will no doubt effect you on your journey ahead.
- Skill Proficiencies: You are proficient in two of the following: Survival, Nature, Medicine, Animal Handling, or Athletics.
- Tool Proficiencies: You are proficient in one tool of your choice.
- Languages: You are proficient in one language of your choice.
- Equipment: A set of common clothes created by your tribe that bares aspects of your culture on it, a set of traveler's clothes with a hood, one tool that you are proficient in, a necklace given to you by someone in the tribe who cares about you, a hooded lantern, a torch and a pouch containing 5 gp.
Every tribe member has a job and responsibility that makes them invaluable to the tribe. A farmer's harvest, a hunter's trophy, or a shaman's herbs all serve a purpose to the survival of the people and the tribe as a whole. For someone to leave, there must be a reason, important to either the tribe or yourself.
What reason did you have for leaving the tribe?
| d6 | Reason for Leaving |
|---|---|
| 1 | You were told to leave your tribe by your chief in order to gain experiences that may help your home when you return. |
| 2 | You rejected the role given you and either fled or were exiled for doing so. |
| 3 | You were exiled for a crime you committed or were accused of committing. |
| 4 | You had a falling out with your chief and were temporarily banished from your tribe as punishment. |
| 5 | A crisis has struck your tribe (i.e illness, famine, natural disaster, etc) and you were directed by the chief to seek outside help. |
| 6 | Your entire tribe was slaughtered, leaving you the sole survivor. |
Among your tribe and other allied tribes you are easily recognized and welcomed. However, within modern cities and towns you are often seen as an attraction rather than a regular member of society because of the obvious outward differences. You often catch glances and even stares from the locals, and their whispers and comments may be overwhelming or distressing. Because of this, you often find it difficult to fit in among these people.
Suggested Characteristics
As a child of the tribe, your actions and behavior display respect and consideration for the group as a whole instead of the individuals. You have your own goals and aspirations, but often push them aside to aid the survival of the group. You are exceptionally social as you see communication as a necessity for survival.

Your many years spent in the wilderness have made you accustomed to the lay of the land making you a guide to the natural world. You are able to easily find your way through a terrain you have walked along at some point in your travels. You can also discover resources such as flora for medicine or sustenance and fauna for hides and meat that you are familiar with in the terrain. It is easy for you to find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
