Astronomers marvel at the sky overhead, studying the movements of stars, planets, moons, comets, and other celestial bodies to gain a deeper understanding of the universe. Astronomers may find themselves traveling the world in search of ancient maps of ancient skies, perhaps seeking lost observatories and star maps, accounts of celestial events, or powerful astronomical artifacts to add to their collections, while some may find themselves more inclined toward prophecies and the zodiac inscribed in starlight. Regardless, you have likely spent a significant portion of your life studying the stars in the sky to help you discern realities about the world around you.

A set of Navigator's Tools which includes a small telescope and quadrant, a star map, a journal written about your discoveries with several sheets of blank parchment, a bottle of black ink, a quill, a small knife, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp
Prior to starting your life as an adventurer, you spent your youth staring up at the night sky and drawing diagrams representing what you saw, giving names to stars or constellations you saw often, and studying astronomical events and history. As long as you have a clear view of the night sky, you can always determine:
-
Which way is north.
-
What time of the day and time of the year it is.
-
How long has it been since sunset, and how long until sunrise.
-
Your approximate location, to within 50 miles.
In addition to that, you can name constellations and recall lore related to any constellation that you can see.
Suggested Characteristics
Astronomers view the world as a part of the bigger picture, they understand their place in the universe. They tend to be humble, and distance themselves from minor local conflicts they view as irrelevant. However, they also tend to be curious and may find themselves finding trouble while searching for their next discovery. They adventure in order to expand their knowledge of nature and the universe as whole.
