Christened in the year 3150, lost with all hands in the year 3162; may they be diligent Below.

As a Navigator-- sometimes called a "pilot" or a "pilgrim"-- you guide the army's wheelships along the maze of gondola chains set into the cavern ceilings.  Seeing a fleet set off single-file, it might seem like the individual ships needs little by way of piloting.  But when a ship is lost in the cavernous depths, surrounded on every side by their ravenous and infinite foe, there is no sight more comforting than a seasoned navigator at the helm.

Whether you serve on a mighty captained ship with an officer, or on a single-wheeled transport with only yourself, you are the lynchpin in the army's stand against the Abyss.  You know where every guide chain leads, where to moor safely out of traffic and where you must keep moving, and how to coax 2,600 lbs. of bone and steel into transferring from one chain to the next. You may be stationed with a logistics platoon, responsible for repairing or laying new chain in the ever-expanding fight for control of the caverns, in which case you will serve alongside a wheelsmith in a lumbering forge-barge. You may serve aboard a combat vessel, and revel in the thrill of speed, the shock of impact, and the sight of your vanguard rappelling down into the dark. Or, if you are very lucky, you may be assigned to a hub platoon, and serve in safety and ease under a Censure as you ferry officers and nobles around the city.

Discuss your voyages with your Dungeon Master. What kind of ship have you been assigned? What is your relationship with your crewmate(s)? Where did you become lost, and what did you have to leave behind?
