In the land of Cruinthe, the word knight has a different meaning than the traditionally historical one. This drift in meaning is attributed to many factors, chiefly among them being that Cruinthe has a formal, organized, national military. A Cruinthian Knight is one of three things at least, but many times they are all of them: an officer in the Cruinthian Military holding at least the rank of Lieutenant, or a special warfare soldier, or a drafted graduate mage that serves in the military.
Sometimes these Knights are in charge of squads of rank and file soldiers and are charged with protecting a town or village, and meteing out justice as it falls in their jurisdiction. Other times they are in charge of entire companies of soldiers, and lead from the front and by example. Other times still they are locked away in towers pursuing dangerous magical research in search of making the lives of their fellow citizens better. In all these cases, a Cruinthian Knight has one thing above all others, and that is honor. They will act with honor towards the citizenry, those in lesser station than them, and those above them. Their attitude should be that of a servant of the crown and the people. They hold those around them to high standards, and themselves to even higher standards.
Cruinthian Knights serve at the behest of the Justean Monarchy, and it is through the graces of the Cruinthian Military that their investiture in their rank is made. Those that bring dishonor to the rank, are stripped of it, and all of its privileges and responsibilities.

Sometimes a Knight may stumble upon the rank and file soldiery of the Cruinthian military that are without a leader out in the wild. It is the responsibility of that knight to take command of them, so that they may have leadership and may be directed to a productive aim. It is in this regard that a Knight is charged with the burden of leadership, as it has its own challenges. In some cases it may be most responsible for the knight to order the soldiers to remain where they are, or to retreat to a road or particular fort, so that they are safe. Other times it may be prudent to bring them into battle, as they can be a force to be reckoned with under the direction of a good tactical commander.
In game terms, you may command any member of the Cruinthian military to follow your orders if you hold rank above them. If you do not hold the special rank of Captain, the limit is your honor score. These soldiers and other knights will generally follow orders so long as those orders are: Reasonable, Honest, and Bring no Harm to the State or the Innocent. Note that they do not consider their own safety in these orders, so long as they are not unreasonable. This may amount to ordering a squad of soldiers to hold off a group of enemies so that you can escort a mission critical element out of danger. If the orders are perceived as unreasonable, the soldiers or lesser ranked knights will refuse the order, as it is their legal right, unless convinced of its necessity
