Child Of Adventurers Image

You are the child of retired adventurers. They met through their travels and maybe their group disbanded after saving the realm or they accomplished what they originally set out to do or they completed a job that paid so well they decided to pack it in. Whatever the reason, they left behind the adventuring life while the getting was good.

Is your family celebrated as local celebrities in your hometown? Or are they the mysterious people on the edge of town that people talk about in hushed whispers.

Regardless of how your family is perceived by the locals, you spent your whole life hearing stories of their deeds and misadventures. Whether it was stories about fighting off monstrous creatures that were harrying a small town or saving the realm from an evil litch. And then there's all the stories of the beautiful lands they've seen and the unique people they met. After hearing the stories of your parent's travels, you wish to see the world as well. While you are just starting as an Adventurer, your parents are experienced and have taught you some tricks of their own. You might have had some weapon training, or even went on an adventure or two with them already.

When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine the accomplishments of your parents, and which kinds of adventures they might have taken you on if any.

Skill Proficiencies: Pick any one skill to be proficient in.
Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan’s tools. One of your parents maybe had this and taught you how to use it.
Languages: One Language of your choice. Since your parents were so well traveled they taught you an extra language so that you may use it if you ever followed in their footsteps.
Equipment: A set of artisan’s tools (one of your choice), a keepsake from home, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp

Feature: A Heroic Lineage

Being the child of well-known Adventurers makes it easier for you to find a way into Adventurer’s and Mercenary Guilds.  They will grant you a place to sleep and are more inclined to aid you in your journey. However, being that your family name may be known in some parts is not always beneficial. If there is anyone your parents may have wronged, (such as criminals, bandits, and any evil beings not dispatched by them) they will gladly attempt to take their revenge through you.
