- Equipment: cartographer's tools, navigator's tools, five trinkets of your choice, an unreadable wizard's scroll ( if you are a wizard work with your dm to figure out what spell(s) it holds) and a pouch containing 50 gold pieces.

you can can command any sailor outside of a official navy

Posted Jul 12, 2024amazing, I especially love the fact that no conflict can be had with sea based forces, or really anyone who has ever been part of a ship crew because you can just order them around. In all, I do get the idea of wanting a different pirate background than the phb provides, but this might be a touch overpowered.
