You hail from a country village so small that few people have heard of it, and only the most detailed of maps show its existence. Those few people who have heard of it probably passed through it and still only know its name and the name of its inn or tavern.
Most people from such villages never pass more than three or four miles from the village center, and even then only to hunt deer in the forest. You, however, did leave and become an adventurer. Though you may be unfamiliar with the people you meet and act, you also get to experience wonders that your friends in the village couldn't have dreamed of.
- Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling, Survival
- Tool Proficiencies: One musical instrument or gaming set of your choice, and one set of artisans supplies or a herbalism kit
- Equipment: A set of traveler's clothes; a musical instrument, gaming set, artisan's tools, or herbalism kit; a simple weapon; and a pouch containing 10 gp.
As a common person, you easily avoid notice. Unless you are wearing or carrying something extraordinary (such as a wizard's hat, a suit of adamantine armor, or a greatsword), or in a place where common people can't get to (such as a high-security military base), people will likely assume you to be a naive but harmless innocent. Town or city guards will likely forget your face among the two-dozen people who walked past their post, market traders assume you to be telling the truth about the value of their goods, and the other patrons in the tavern will often assume you didn't mean to offend them, and let grievous insults pass.
Suggested Characteristics
Villagers will commonly have a sense of fair play and hard work not commonly found in a city, though may have unusual mannerisms that confuse urban folk.
