Whether you were born to the tropical shores of Port Celes, or moved to its lawless islands looking for purpose and wealth, you became a part of the Iemyr Coalition, the society of pirates that is technically the governing force of the region , ensuring it remains the trading paradise they benefit from. Worshiping the great ancient leviathan Iemyr, that who controls the waters and the balance of life and death in the archipelago, pirates and sailors of the Coalition live their life to the fullest. They seek power and gratification like no other, they revel in pleasure, wealth, sacking, and the chaos of it all, as they know that no one will help you in life but yourself, and they live in harmony with the ocean and believe being up in the food chain is their destiny. Regardless if you are the captain of your own ship or a simple corsair, the waters and sacking clueless merchants is your game.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Athletics, Acrobatics, Perception and Intimidation
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose two from Navigator’s Tools, Vehicles (Water), and one type of gaming set of your choice.
- Equipment: 50 feet of silk rope, a memoir from your first ship (you may roll for a random one on the Trinkets table in chapter 5), a necklace of Iemyr, garments appropiate for sailing, and a pouch containing 10gp.
You are very recognizable as a member of the Coalition, and the Iemyr’s reputation precedes them. When you are in a civilized settlement and as long as there are no officers of the law, you can get away with minor criminal offenses, such as refusing to pay for food at a tavern or breaking down doors at a local shop, since most people will not report your activity to the authorities.
Additionally, when you need to, you can secure free passage for yourself and your adventuring companions. You are able to procure any sea fairing vessel or carriages in land, as long as its owner is either allied with the Iemyr in some way or fears them. Because it’s a favour of sorts, you can't be certain of a schedule or route that will meet your every need. Your DM will determine how long it takes to get where you need to go. In return for your free passage, you and your companions may be expected to assist the crew during the voyage.
Finally, you gain one cantrip of your choice amongst Druidcraft, Message, Shape Water and Gust of Wind. Your spellcasting ability is chosen appropriately by the DM.
Suggested Characteristics
Iemyr Pirates can be a rough lot, but the responsibilities of life on a ship make them generally reliable as well. Life aboard a ship shapes their outlook and forms their most important attachments.
