Folk Hero Turned Noble

You started out as a Folk Hero, but through some strange relation, killing of a tyrant, adoption, or other, you suddenly find yourself with a title and a new life as a Noble.

Work with your DM to come up with an appropriate title and determine how much authority that title carries. A noble title doesn’t stand on its own—it’s connected to an entire kingdom, and whatever title you hold, you will pass it down to your own children, so long as you don’t abdicate. Not only do you need to determine your noble title, but you should also work with the DM to describe your kingdom and its influence on the common people.

Is your kingdom old and established, or was your title only recently bestowed? How much influence do you wield, and over what area? What kind of reputation does your kingdom have among the other aristocrats of the region?

Does your kingdom have a coat of arms? An insignia you might wear on a signet ring? Particular colors you wear all the time?

Because you were once a Folk Hero, the common people see you as kind and loyal, so long as you don’t turn your back on them.

These details help establish your kingdom and your title as features of the world of the campaign.

A Folk Hero Turned Noble might be taught to live a very different lifestyle than most people ever experience, and their personalities can reflect those teachings. A noble title comes with a plethora of bonds—responsibilities to kingdom, to other nobles or even to the title itself. But this responsibility is often a good way to undermine a noble.
