Strange Voice Image

You never understood the purpose of pranks, even as a gnome. This only encouraged others to target you for all of their jokes and self-amusement. Prank after prank, your patience with everyone else has worn extremely thin. Even worse, your brother seems to be the worst offender. Leaving you in bed with sleepless nights, and if you’re lucky a silent meal.

As you wish for the power to overcome this childish torture you hear a voice in your head. “I can give you power child, but it comes at a cost.” Without caution, you agree to the strange voice’s offer. “Then it will be done child.”

The next day, you find yourself in the family barn. Your brother has wrestled you down to the ground and is Gleeking into your face while slapping your forehead. While your face turns reddish-blue, the air strangely gets hotter. A bolt of fire shoots from your hand and directly into a small barrel of oil. The oil exploded and the barn immediately cached a blaze and collapsed. Before you, you saw your brother crushed to death by flaming debris. As you stare into your brother’s lifeless eyes, the strange voice echoes into your mind, “How does it feel to be the first Ipsum to have magic?”

You rush out of the burning barn, and as you do, the flames seem to dance out of your way. Your family is starting to gather down the road, but you keep going. Faster and faster, you make it to a desolate road. Shaken and unable to get the thought of your brother’s eyes from your mind, you look back at the burning barn. Nervously, you start to quickly wander into the unknown.
