You have spent your life living under the affliction of a curse. This curse could've been obtained at birth or received later on in life, either way, you know if you're secret got out there could be life-long consequences. Some choose to embrace the curse, accepting it as a part of them and soaring to new heights but others may spend the rest of their lives looking for a cure.
It may be a curse that suppresses all emotions, a curse that may turn you into an animal when frightened or unconscious, a curse that may sap your strength or just a classic case of lycanthropy. Work with your Dungeon Master to establish the nature of your curse and its side-effects and find ways it can be incorporated into the campaign.

Whether intended or not, your curse has gotten quite the reputation. Everywhere you look you can find exaggerated rumors about the nature of your curse and the "calamity" it will bring to those around you. Some rumors may call you a sign of misfortune whilst others say you are in command of a dark and malicious power. Most rumors you'll hear border the realm of impossibility.
You may attempt to leverage these rumors whilst bargaining for things such as cheaper accommodation, free food or for gathering information that may be confidential. Alternatively you'll know where to find jobs that can help to improve your bad reputation.
