You have tasted hundreds of different brands of ale in your lifetime, and you are knowledgeable about the unique flavor profile of each. Your experience as an ale taster allows you to tell approximately how old the ale you are tasting is, the quality of the ale itself, the majority of the ingredients used, as well as whether or not there are additional ingredients that wouldn't normally be there. If you unknowingly drank poisoned ale, you would be able to detect the difference in taste and potentially spit it out before any real harm is done; provided that the poison isn't of the tasteless variety.

You can also accurately tell whether any ale you try is worth the price it is being charged, and can compare the pricing of any ale to the pricing you've seen across the various taverns you've visited in your lifetime.
