You have dedicated yourself to protecting the material plane as a member of the Watchful Order of Guardian Protectors...etc (Order of the Watchers for short). You are part of a large and diverse network of informants, arcanists, soldiers, and more, including a direct supervisor that you report to who guides and directs you in the fight against threats from beyond.
Your training and study at the hands of this network has made you an expert on extraplanar threats and the outer planes, as well as giving you access to a dedicated network of powerful individuals who share your motivation.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose any two skills from the Order of the Watchers training regiment
- Languages: Two Extraplanar Languages of your choice
- Equipment: Holy Symbol (An insignia of your rank in the Order of the Watchers), an Order of the Watchers uniform, a Handy Dandy Watchers Handbook of the Planes, a Journal of Reporting and Request-Form Submission, two sets of Standard Issue Order of the Watchers Tools, and a pouch containing 15 gold pieces.
Your training and study at the hands of the order has made you an expert on the Outer Planes, Extraplanar threats and how to deal with them.
When you make an Arcana, History, Religion or Survival, check to track or recall information about Extraplanar Threats (such as aberrations, celestials, elementals, fey, or fiends), or recall information about the outer planes, you can add twice your proficiency bonus to the roll, provided the check does not already benefit from a feature such as Expertise. If you already add your proficiency bonus to the ability check, you can add twice your proficiency bonus instead.
Additionally, if you are searching for information you do not know and are on the material plane, you likely know the location of the nearest Order of the Watchers headquarters or base of operations where such information could be found. If no such locations are nearby, at the DMs discretion you might be aware of a nearby Order of the Watcher’s contact who might know the information you’re looking for or might know the location of a nearby Order of the Watchers field operative out on deployment. If you are not on the material plane, there is a much narrower chance for you to encounter such a contact or operative, also as determined by your DM.
