Dragon Trained Image

Throughout your life, you may have wanted to have knowledge, power, or maybe a reason to do anything, well here it is. At some point in your early life, you met a dragon, be it chromatic or metallic, or gem, and convinced it to train you in the ways of the Dragons. These dragons could have many different reasons to actually train you - maybe they liked you, maybe they wanted you out of their hair, or maybe they even considered you a possible rival or pawn in the future. Regardless of the reason, they agreed to train you, and that they did. Eventually, you were either forced to or chose to leave the area you were raised up and trained in and ventured out into the world beyond. Maybe the dragon who trained you left, or was killed, or many other possibilities, but for whatever reason, this has increased your ambition and you leave to accomplish said task.

Feature: Draconic Intuition

When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of information that is considered ancient in its nature, if you do not know that information, you can call upon your dragon guardian to ask about the information in question, provided you have good standing with it. This communication is usually done through some form of magic, like a telepathic bond only you and your dragon possess or a unique ritual where you write the question down in the air and send it to your dragon to a magical piece of parchment (Work with your DM on this).

Depending on the type of communication and what kind of information you are asking, a response from your dragon could be instant, like during a conversation through a magic mirror, to over a week, as it looks through it's piles of books and scrolls to find the requested info after receiving your letter you teleported. The response may come quicker if the information you seek is related to what the dragon is naturally interested in, such as a bronze dragon's love for sunken treasure in ships or a gold dragon's appetite for pearls and gems. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is something your dragon possesses little to no information on, or that it only knows of a location nearby to find such information. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the multiverse can require an adventure or even a whole campaign.

Suggested Characteristics

Dragon trained are usually uneasy around their own kind, having spent years or even their whole lives in the company of dragons. The alignments of dragon trained usually depend on the dragon that raised them: i.e. most Gold Dragons influence their humanoid pupils to be lawful good, most Red Dragons teach their humanoid pupils to be chaotic evil. Because of this, a person who was trained by dragons may have goals and morals that reflect those of their draconic parent and/or guardian.

Variant Feature: Mighty Presence

As one trained by dragons, you reflect their power through your actions - intentionally or not. People know to keep their eyes on you, whether from fascination or from fear is entirely up to how you use this forceful air around you. Scholars will seek to study you and gather more information on the dragon who trained you, townsfolk may buy you a drink in exchange for a good tale of your past, fighters may even ask you to spar with them. Some may offer you food, drinks, shelter, or protection if you need it. However, this attention may also work against you. People are more likely to remember your face and your name, which can make hiding or running away difficult. Some desperate cultists may even try and attack you for your connection with your dragon.

Whenever you are in a settlement, you can choose to impress or frighten those around. By impressing the townsfolk, you can find readily available and fine rooms, food, and other necessities at a marked down price, and you gain the favor of the people. If you choose to intimidate the townsfolk, you can get away with small, petty crimes without being ratted out, and can find lodging for free, though the comfort level is lowered. In addition, the townsfolk now find you terrifying and will not provide protection from the law.
