Due to a rather unfortunate (and to your knowledge, uncurable) curse, you have lost the ability to remain one set height. For as long as you can remember, most days you wake up an entirely different size, leading to loads of insecurity as you get looks from people you remember from the day before. One day you may wake up 5'11 and the next day you're 6'8, then two days later, you find yourself at 4'6. Affliction with this curse has left you in a lifelong search of others with struggles similar to yours, as it's difficult to find people sympathetic to your strange struggle.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Arcana, Deception, Intimidation, Insight, Religion, or Survival.
Tool Proficiencies: One tool of your choice or one instrument.
Languages: One of your choice.
Equipment: One set of tools or instrument based on your choice, along with a mask or some other sort of face covering and a few additional trinkets of your choice.

Feature: Size Shift

After completing a long rest, your DM rolls 2d6 and flips a coin. The 2d6 represents the number of inches your size will change over the course of the day, and the coin represents if you grow or shrink, with heads meaning you grow and tails meaning you shrink. The DM keeps both the roll and the coin flip secret upon rolling, and over the course of the next 12-18hrs (depending on how large the roll) may describe how you are undergoing this transformation, for example, you may wake up and suddenly hit your head trying to get through the doorway to the room in your tavern you are staying at, or, a well-known shopkeep may point out this difference in height and question into it. This feature cannot put your height below half your height or above your height + half your height, for example, if your starting height is 6ft you cannot be made shorter than 3ft or taller than 9ft by means of this feature. You cannot be considered Large through means of this feature, and are considered to be Small if you are under 4ft, and Medium if you are above 4ft.

Additionally, your DM may determine that your change in size should affect your stats in some way, such as a Small creature only being able to move 25ft, or maybe you have a penalty on some Dexterity rolls if you're in a dramatically new form than you've been in a while, or buffs on Strength rolls for being in a bigger body, buffs on Stealth for being in a smaller body, etc. These are up to the DM and the player if this is a rule they want to play with, but could lead to some roleplay moments where the person with this background really feels like a different character day by day.

Suggested Characteristics

As a sizer, you may be well suited to a life of seclusion, away from those who would think less of you, or you may long for company around people who are either sizers themselves or sympathize with your struggles. This attempt to find the perfect balance of seclusion and support leads to conflict within your character, as you can't find peace with being the only one person with your curse.

Contacts

You may know a pastor of some sort who has helped you come to terms with your curse, or some other sort of wise individual who has helped you come to terms with the nature of constantly feeling different every other day. Work with your DM to determine who this person is and what role they might play both in your life and the setting they live in.
