Experiment Image

You are an experiment gone wrong but saved by your master. You have forgotten who you were before you were experimented on, but it doesn't bother you too often. You could've been experimented on due to your family giving you up, your master replacing you as their lost kid by modifying your appearance to be similar to their child, or a payment as a debt for your master. Regardless, you were experimented on chained to a wall, in a test tube, or even in a caged prison. You were hidden from the world by your master for your own good, and homeschooled about the world by your master as well. Eventually, you escaped or your master set you free. You remembered your master later on, and when you went to your old home to investigate, the house was worn down. You searched around for clues of what happened, and found out about how they set you free because they were getting investigated by the police and didn't want you to get involved. Earlier pages included earlier memories you didn't know of, and pictures you took together. You read through the entirety of the book before you found a hidden note at the end of the book, detailing your master's past and the reason why created/modified you. You took this book and prepared to adventure out into the wilderness to find your master's location.

Why were you made?

You were created for a reason. Every being was; you are as well.

However, I have a question for your character; why were they created? Don't know? Hopefully this chart will help decide. Roll 1d6 to decide why your character was made/modified(or, of course, decide yourself).

d6 Why were you made?
1 My master's child was lost in an accident when their child was a very early age, around when I was born. I was a replacement of their child, modified to look somewhat like them.
2 My original family made a deal with my master; that their next child would be given in to be experimented with. Unfortunately, that child ended up being me.
3 I ran away from my original family due to harsh abuse/unnecessary hate. I encountered my master by accident, and was told that good would come out of my life if I joined his family. I replaced their lost child, and was actually appreciated by them. I was heartbroken when I found out they sent me out for my own safety.
4 My mother/father ended up marrying my master. My master later found out my mother/father was abusing me, and hid me in his lab so he could keep me from the abuse while they were divorcing. I decided to explore, and accidentally found myself in a test tube. My master did experiments to delete my memories of abuse from my mother/father, and I barely remember them now.
5 My parents had a debt from the police to give me to my master for "important" experiments. The police found out these experiments went wrong and rumors spread among them that they were continuing and they were painful. My master kicked me out for my own safety, and they went to jail. I continue to look for a way to set them free.
6 I went stray from my original family on a camping trip to celebrate my 5th birthday, and my master adopted me. My master was a kind parent, and if I remembered things I wanted to forget, they would just erase them from my mind.

Feature: Strange, but Harmless

You have a reputation in your hometown for being a little odd, both in appearance and personality. You seem to be odd to everyone around you, and most people don't look at you twice; they just consider you strange and conclude it at that. This allows you to get away with non-breaking the law behavior, such as asking people about things you'd normally know or playing on the playground with strange kids.

Suggested Characteristics

You remember a torturous memory, what caused your experiment to be painful, or even your master's name(but barely). Regardless, you were experimented on, and you relied mainly on yourself once your master released you.

d6 Personality Trait
1 Bright lights feel pleasant. I don't know why.
2 I can't speak to others quite well yet. I usually rely on others to speak for me. This way I can also know how they talk.
3 Communication...Not too familiar. Haven't had much contact with people other than my master and his friends. They were pretty simple people.
4 When I was on my own, I often took trips to the beach. I still do. The sound of the waves crashing and rolling back in, over and over...it's...calming.
5 Every so often, I get confused when a stranger hugs me. It feels weird to have a non-sibling hug me for no reason as well. What? The correct word is..."family member"?
6 Every time I see something, I wanna touch it. Every time I taste a new food, I wanna eat...it...forever...
d6 Ideal
1 Freedom. I will do anything to secure my freedom and my master's freedom, for they saved my life. (Good)
2 Safety. I believe others can accomplish things without harming others. (Any)
3 Self Safety. Killing is okay if it's the elimination of possible risks to yourself. (Chaotic)
4 Others. The highest evil is the invasion of another person's life. (Lawful)
5 Pain. My pain was necessary, and has made me only stronger. I have endured so much pain, that anything I commit is justified, because it doesn't even compare to what I went through. (Evil)
6 Loyalty. I am loyal to my master, no one can force me otherwise. Actually...I am not on either side. (Neutral)
d6 Bond
1 My master was the only one who knew of my potential. I will do anything to secure their freedom, even if it means my own "demise".
2 I wish I could turn back the clock...maybe I could've saved my former self...and my master.
3 My strongest bond is to myself, no one ever helped me as much as I helped myself.
4 After I find my master, I want to ask him about my birth family/parent.
5 What? Do I remember my master's name? Sorta... I believe it's... (Hint towards master's name).
6 I've relied on myself for as long as I can remember. No need to "sugarcoat" it. I'm alright with it.
d6 Flaw
1 Chains trigger painful memories that I don't like to remember/what it was like in the lab... Master, why...
2 People around me try to smile more than they should. They take me as a "toddler". This disgusts me.
3 I'm barely ever able to get enough sleep. Others worry for me. I try to stay away from others because of this.
4 I have high expectations, and everyone must meet them so I can "respect" them.
5 I hate those who hate my master. They can do away for all I care, my master is my most precious friend, they saw my true potential.
6 I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE, conversations. I have others speak on my behalf. I always keep my voice low.

Variant Experiment: Successful Experiment

You weren't saved by your master and experienced pain; you weren't an experiment gone wrong, either, you were a successful experiment, and there are many more like you. You lost all contact with them after you all were released into the world, and you continue to search for them after finding the notebook in the rundown house.

Variant Feature: Master's Family

If your character still has contact with a Friend, you can choose this instead of Strange, but Harmless. You know a good friend, and you two developed a secret language that you can use to pass along messages that you only need your friend to understand.
