As a small child you started your adventuring life quite suddenly when a Tarrasque attacked your home. 
Somehow you managed to kill it on accident.

Maybe it tripped or something and fell on your sword. Perhaps it had a heart attack.

Either way when the dust settled everyone saw you standing right next to the beasts head with your sword stabbed into it.

From then on you were considered a hero of heros. Even though you didn’t actually do anything.

Unfortunately for you wherever you go people know your name and face and if they know you are there they will seek you out to ask you to kill impossible to kill monsters for them. Finding jobs is hard because no one lets you do easy jobs since you are the legendary Tarrasque Slayer.

Equipment: People often give you equipment for cheap since they know you will probably kill some legendary monster with it.
