You were raised by a hag, and from as long as you can remember, she was the one taking care of you. Whether she truly cared for you, used you as a tool or showed you gruesome scenes of sorts is debatable, hags are renowned for their cruel tendencies, but there are some of them who feel and display genuine affection toward their child, or children.
Whatever the reason you ended up growing up under the care of a hag may be, should you be a stolen child, a bargaining chip, or a legitimate child of hers, she raised you as one of her own and taught you her ways. This aside, your experience of the world may be somewhat lacking as most of the time, you never really found yourself dwelling far from the place you called home.
- Skill Proficiencies: Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from among Nature, Deception, Persuasion, Intimidation, or Survival
- Tool Proficiencies: Tool Proficiencies: Choose either the Herbalism Kit or the Poisoner's Kit, and one musical instrument or artisan tool of your choice.
- Languages: Languages: Choose one exotic language of which you know the speech (Deep Speech, Primordial, Sylvan, or Abyssal)
- Equipment: Equipment: A set of durable clothes including a hood, 5 gp, and a trinket that faintly glows in the presence of Fey magic (in the form of a wand, a ring, a necklace or a brooch - can serve as a focus).
Like your hag mother, you have learned the art of disguising the more corrupted parts of yourself. Your illusory appearance is not as complete as hers- i.e. you cannot disguise yourself as another race, nor hide your clothes and what you carry- but you are able to modify your features. A useful skill given the twisted nature of hags and how it influences those they raise, born from them or not.
Once per long rest you can use an action to summon your illusory appearance. It lasts until you use a bonus action to dismiss it, or fades if you drop to zero HP. You must recast it after each long rest if you wish to maintain the disguise.
The changes wrought by this effect fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example- you could hide scars, appearing to have smooth skin, but anyone touching you would feel the rough flesh. Otherwise, a creature must take an action to visually inspect the illusion and succeed on a DC 20 Intelligence (Investigation) check to discern the disguise.
Suggested Characteristics
