You are a knight-errant for the Summer Court of the Feywild, wandering the multiverse in search of a glorious quest or grand adventure. You may have just left home to begin your search or you may have been questing so long that you're not entirely certain what's left. In any case, you can't go home until you have found what you seek, and that hasn't happened yet.
As a knight of the Feywild you are a member of that realm's nobility, though exactly where you stand in that hierarchy is a matter you must define. Has your family held noble titles for generations and you are the latest scion of that line? Or were you raised to the title of knight from out of the masses because of some great deed you've accomplished (that might even be part of your quest)? There are more questions than answers here, but you should work with your DM to determine at least the basic idea. Bear in mind that while a knighthood is nobility, it is lesser nobility. Unless you have some other claim to titles as well, you are at just about the lowest run of titled nobility in the Feywild, though upward mobility is always an option.
Where do you stand among the ranks of the nobles? Are you an heir with political aspirations and expectations? Are you so far down in the line of succession that taking on the quest of a knight-errant is your only hope of achieving something worthwhile? Are you in good standing with your family, and what do they think of your quest? Has your family been stripped of their titles and you quest now in search of redemption?
All of these are questions you should be able to answer, but do not forget that, regardless of these answers, you are a knight and a noble of the Feywild. That comes with certain strings and expectations, along with its privileges. You are an icon of a code of chivalry that has only ever been seen in fairy tales and, regardless of your current standing, you represent your court wherever you go, for good or ill. You may be able to call on the privilege of your rank from time to time, but those strings pull both ways.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from among Animal Handling, Arcana, History, Nature, Persuasion, and Religion
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of gaming set or musical instrument
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A set of fine clothes, a signet ring, a set of spurs indicating your rank as a knight, and a purse containing 25 gp
You learn the Find Familiar spell and can cast it as a ritual. The spell doesn't count against your number of spells known, if you have any.
When you cast this spell you can choose either a pixie, quickling, or sprite as your familiar. This familiar acts as your knightly retainer, preparing your food, cleaning and caring for your gear, and performing other necessary tasks that help to maintain your status. Your familiar will not enter combat but will do anything else it reasonably can to assist you with your quest.
