Out of Time

You were born in a different time, possibly as long ago as thousands of years. Back then, you were an academic of some sort, an apprentice mage, or a wizard's servant; something that brought you close to a lot of magic. At some point, you were caught in a wild magic effect that catapulted you through time. You find yourself now in a world that is at the same time familiar to you and completely alien. Kingdoms that existed in your time may not exist any longer. Borders may have changed. Even features of the land may be different.

Your knowledge of history is both incredibly personal (as you may have lived through events that began the campaign) and with very large gaps between your time and this one.

 

Skill Proficiencies: History, Arcana

Tool Proficiencies: Cartographer’s tools or Navigator’s tools

Languages: Two of your choice, at least one of which you speak with a very archaic accent.

Equipment: A wooden case containing a map of the area as it was in your time, a bullseye lantern, a miner’s pick, a set of traveler’s clothes, a shovel, a two-person tent, a trinket you had with you when you were pushed out of your time, and a pouch containing 25 gp, all of them coins from your time.

It's difficult to resist the lure of the places that you used to live. Delving into and exploring ruins and dungeons where once there was a thriving civilization can be awe inspiring for most. For you, they provide a profound sense of loss, but also a comfort of things you know, or knew.

You are a product of your time, and things were very different then. You may still have old prejudices, old customs, and a different view of the world (or of magic) than people of this time.
