Your father was a toymaker, and his father before him. You were the envy of every child in the village. If only they ever knew that you weren't allowed to be a child. From the day you could hold a tiny hammer, you were taught how to make toys. You didn't consider yourself as missing out on anything, though. You found the intricacies of toys and gadgets fascinating, and at times had to be pulled away from the work bench in order to see to mundane activities such as eating, bathing and sleeping. Then one day you discovered the arcane. Your talents seemed to fit in perfectly with the arcane world, though you felt drawn by the mechanics of magic instead of the spiritual.
- Skill Proficiencies: Working with small gadgets, your hands and eyes are trained in dealing with small things. Your research into the arcane has given you a knowledge base that those studying beneath a full mage, or at one of the schools, would be jealous of you.
- Tool Proficiencies: You have worked with a variety of tools and have become proficient with them. You are proficient with your choice of two of the following tools; Tinker's Tools, Jeweler's Tools, Woodcarving tools, Leather Working Tools, Glass Blower's Tools and Thieves' Tools.
- Languages: : You have learned one language, besides common and your native tongue
- Equipment: A set of artisan's tools with which you are proficient, a set of Artisans Outfit, a pouch containing 5gp, a maker's mark stamp, inkpad, and inkwell (used to mark your handiwork with the symbol of the clan of crafters you hale from), and a manual of toy making.
Feature: Timing Mechanisms
You have developed the ability to create and build small mechanical timing devices using bits of metal, cogs, and wheels. You are very proficient in building small gadgets that will perform a simple task in a very specific amount of time. Though these don't usually accomplish anything great, you have utilized them in your toys and simple devices that have the ability of doing great things. You just have to find ways to apply what you know. One use of them is creating tiny “helper” toys. Over the course of a short rest, if you have access to artisan tools you are proficient with and appropriate raw materials worth 1 gp, you can craft a toy prototype. This tiny object of your choice can be used as an action to recreate one effect possible through the Prestidigitation spell, chosen during creation, with the effect lasting up to one minute. After each use, roll a six-sided die, and on a result of 3 or less, the toy breaks. You can only have one such object at a time, but unless destroyed, toys can be reused for parts.
Suggested Characteristics
You are very precise in everything you do. Some might even say that you are too precise and exact, not allowing for even the smallest bit of error. Some would call you cautious, while others see you as fearful, or even cowardly, but that's because they can't hear the you are measuring cost, effect, and possible outcomes. You might seem apathetic and unfeeling, but that's mostly because you don't have time for feelings. Your world is gears, springs, and arcane energies
