You have spent your life in the service of a cult to specific fiends. You used to act as an intermediary between the realm of the unholy and the mortal world, performing fiendish rites and offering sacrifices in order to conduct worshipers into the presence of the fiend. You are not necessarily a warlock—performing fiendish rites is not the same thing as channeling demonic power.
Has your character rejected their cult's ways and gone into the world as an adventurer as a way of gaining their freedom back? Or has your character embraced the ways of their cult and is adventuring around to spread it's word. Was the character a assassin for the cult, targeting enemies of the cult, or a bodyguard who protected the cult from outside threats? Were they a priest for the cult who spread the word of it, or were they spellcasting muscle for the cult?
- Skill Proficiencies: Stealth, Arcana
- Tool Proficiencies: poisoner's kit
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A broken knife that was used for blood sacrifices, poisoner's kit, a set of common clothes, a book containing all of the teachings of your cult, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
As a cultist you have learned how to seem unassuming and innocent, You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care by friendly spellcasters, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. you can roll a persuasion check with advantage to have some friendly npcs to support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle.
You might also have ties to a specific fiend. You have a lot of information on this fiend, you do not have to roll to recall information on the fiend. You have more knowledge on fiends than most people. Your character knows the in-depth inner workings of their cult and can easily recall facts about the cult without having to roll.
Suggested Characteristics
Cultists have been shaped by their cult to become the perfect worshipper to the cult's demon or devil. They are often very obedient and loyal. Their flaws might involve being stubborn, or being extremely gullible, or still holding the twisted ideals of their cult.
