Escaped Prisoner Image

In a dark, damp alley, a person sits on a crate. That person is you. After years of endless torture, you escaped. Your body is enveloped by a myriad of cuts and bruises, probably by the constant punishment that was brought to you by the guards. Your teeth, once a natural white, are now a dark, saturated ecru shadow of their former self. Your hair is twisted and dirty from a lack of cleaning. You were lucky to find that jacket and hood in the alley. The jacket has some extra gold inside, along with a dagger wrapped in the hood. Maybe these were abandoned, or maybe they were left for your arrival. Unlike others, you have more knowledge of the danger that surrounds you, so you prefer to be hidden or swift. You also know some languages, after being imprisoned for so long. However, the knowledge is held back by the shackles of silence, which prevent you from using magic. You must survive in this cruel world, but how.

Skill Proficiencies: Stealth, Intimidation, Acrobatics, Perception
Tool Proficiencies: Disguise kit, Forgery kit
Languages: Common, Undercommon, one of your choice
Equipment: Blanket (found when you were scavenging in the alley), Dagger (found in the hood), Ink (1 ounce bottle), Ink pen (taken from a market stall), Paper (one sheet), Theives' tools (you're lucky to remember how these work)

Feature: Twisted Insights

For the time you served, you learnt some languages. The languages include common, undercommon and dwarvish. You can't remember who taught you them, but you thank them. You are also thankful that a guard informed of the danger the real world hides in the shadows.  With these two bits of knowledge, you are able to find clues and extra info that even the smartest people won't be able to pick up. When investigating, you can roll a d6, which added to the total of the investigation check.
