Your time spent as a multi-faceted member of the Temple's hierarchy has lent you the ability to blend in easily with the nobility or the commonfolk. You've become a sort of chameleon in this way.

You might have been a priest or lowly acolyte who was recognized by a high cleric and taken on as an apprentice. You may have shown some talent for combat and piqued the interest of an oathsworn paladin. Perhaps your research helped to further the goals of the Temple and assisted it in gaining more political power or more funding for its ceremonies. Or perhaps you are the son or daughter of an already powerful family within the Temple's hierarchy. 

Regardless, you have spent your life in the service of a temple to a specific god or pantheon of gods. You act as an intermediary between the realm of the holy and the mortal world. Part of that role is aiding in growing the influence of your Temple, its god(s) and its message. While politics, history, and courtly intrigue were likely not factors in pursuing a role within your Temple's leadership they have, nonetheless, become part of your day to day life.

Use the tables for the noble or acolyte background in the Player’s Handbook as the basis for your traits and motivations. The one you choose depends predominantly on how devout your character was. Of course, modify the entries when appropriate to suit your identity as a temple leader.

The noble court or temple's pantheon where you got your start is directly or indirectly associated with your bond (which could pertain to certain individuals in the group, such as your sponsor or mentor). Your ideal might be concerned with the prevailing philosophy of your organization.
