Slave Gladiator Image

War has been your life for as long as you care to remember. Born a slave, you trained since a young age, trained in the use of weapons and armor, basic survival techniques, including how to stay alive in the Arena. You fought and won your freedom via the crowd or by your own bloody hand by way of escape.

When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine which arena you were a part of, how far through its ranks you progressed, and what kind of experiences you had during your military career. Was it a minor or a grand arena?

Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Intimidation
Tool Proficiencies: One type of gaming set, vehicles (land)
Equipment: Badges and Bobbles of fallen enemies and friends, basic gear includes weapons, armor and survival gear.

Specialty

During your time as a Gladiator, you had a specific specialization to play in your area. Roll a d8 or choose from the options allowed by the DM.

d8 Specialty
1 Officer
2 Scout
3 Infantry
4 Cavalry
5 Healer
6 Quartermaster
7 Standard bearer
8 Support staff (cook, blacksmith, or the like)

Feature: Battle Brother

You have a blooded warrior from your career as a Gladiator. Gladiators from your former hall still recognize your title and influence, and they defer to you if they are of lesser title. You can invoke your name to exert title over other Gladiators and requisition simple equipment or horses for temporary use. You can also usually gain access to friendly military encampments and fortresses where your name is recognized.
