Who you are, you don't know. What you are, you don't know. The fractures of memory that still remain of your past seem to indicate that you did not succeed in your purpose, your creators disappointed in this outcome. Why were you created? What went wrong? How were you "disposed" of?
You were not meant to survive. Dragging yourself to your feet you struggle to find your way in this new world. You may have once been a part of it, or you may have only just came into existence. Regardless everything is unfamiliar. Living in the shadows, you hide yourself from people. Most would be horrified if they learnt what you were, and anonymity is a handy protection from creators who may want to tie up lose ends. The life of an Adventurer may be what you need to make a place for yourself in this world, a way to gain enough power to protect yourself and learn where you come from.
- Skill Proficiencies: Survival, Stealth
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose any one tool proficiency.
- Languages: Any one language (if applicable, an exotic language you don't know where you picked up.)
- Equipment: A set of common clothes, a blanket that kept you warm those early days of survival, a journal containing faded notes in a language you don't understand, and a belt pouch containing 5 gp.
It is clear to people that something is missing from you. Those that are able to look past your potentially unnerving exterior will treat you with empathy. It could be supplying some food, offering a place to rest for the night, or donating some used gear. People with kind hearts are inclined to help you. Regardless of if you accept it or not, you really could use every bit of it.
Suggested Characteristics
As a person who is a failure, you lack nearly all confidence. You may not know why you were created, but you know you were not enough. There is always a feeling of purpose lingering in the back of your mind, unobtainable, unreachable. Even those who come to accept their existence will always feel partly incomplete.
