For one reason or another, you grew up in slavery. Whether born into it or sold at a young age, no one seemed to see you for who you are. You learned to anticipate your master's orders. Pleasing them however they wanted as a near-constant fear of the repercussions from disobeying an order has been beaten into you, whether physically or magically. There is a brand somewhere on your body that shows you are a slave. The brand could be a physical scar, burned or cut into your flesh, or a tattoo, either magical or non.
You begin your adventuring career with enough money to live modestly but securely for at least ten days. How did you come by that money? Did you escape from slavery or are you adventuring due to an order?
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Performance
- Tool Proficiencies: An instrument of your choice
- Languages: Language of your master - or perhaps a language that they used to give orders in.
- Equipment: A small knife, a token to remember your master by, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp
You learned to please people, and you learned to please them well. You're able to identify what people want much easier and use that to make them friendlier. Whenever you roll a persuasion check to make someone friendly towards you, you have advantage on the check. If a person is friendly towards you, you gain advantage on insight checks to identify their mood.
Suggested Characteristics
Slaves are shaped by lives of constant abuse and orders. They tend to be driven either by the orders of their masters or by a burning desire to find a better life - and maybe get some payback on the master who treated them so badly.
