You aren't who you appear to be; you may not even be what you appear to be. Whatever body you inhabit at the moment is not your own. Describing who and what you are can be difficult, as there are really two answers, two stories to be told. The body you inhabit once belonged to someone else, and that person had their own story, their own friends and family, hopes and dreams, and you may or may not know anything about them. You may have stolen their body or dominated their mind intentionally, or maybe it was a freak accident. Maybe you knew them, and you chose your victim for a purpose, or maybe they were a perfect stranger stricken by misfortune. Regardless, they're gone now... Or maybe they're not, who can say? And then, of course, there's your story. Perhaps you're some ancient entity who has been living off of host bodies longer than anyone could imagine, or a sentient item that has dominated its owner, or you could just be the victim of the prank of a very bored wizard. Whatever the cause, you are a mind and soul in control of a body not your own.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose one from among skills related to the knowledge of the possessor [Aranca, History, Investigation, Nature, Religion, Animal Handling, Insight, Medicine, Survival, Deception, Persuasion, Intimidation], and one related to the body of the host [Athletics, Acrobatics, Perception].
Tool Proficiencies: You may have memory of skill with certain tools or instruments, but your new body lacks the muscle memory you've attained through years of practice. You are half-proficient in two tool or instrument skills of your choice (You'll have to manually change this yourself on your character sheet).

OR

Fortunately for you, you've managed to possess a body that is practiced in the use of a tool or instrument that you have experience with, choose one tool or instrument proficiency.

Languages: Choose one exotic language [Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, or Undercommon] if you have an ancient or exotic origin, otherwise choose one standard language [Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, Giant, Gnomish, Goblin, Halfling, Orc].
Equipment: An item related to the cause of your possession (if applicable), and one trinket of significance to your host discovered on your person.

Mind Origin

Before it ended up inside this body, your mind came from somewhere else. Choose or roll an origin.

d8 Mind Origin
1 I am an otherworldly entity, using this body to interact with the lesser beings.
2 I have extended my life far beyond its natural length by stealing new bodies.
3 I am a sentient item that has taken over the hapless fool who found me.
4 An outside force has placed my soul into this body against my will.
5 I needed this particular body for some purpose, and have taken it for my own.
6 I really have no idea how this happened. One moment I was minding my own business, and next thing I knew, I was here.
7 I am the opportunistic spirit of someone who has died, and has found a new body.
8 Whatever this is, it's affected my memory. I don't remember who or what I was.

Feature: Confusing Body Language

Though some people are better at it than others, everyone has a certain sense that helps them to read others by observing subtle things like facial expressions, body language, or changes in tone which might betray your thoughts. But because your body doesn't belong to you, your mannerisms are a mixture of your own, and the muscle memory of your host. As a result, people find it unusually difficult to accurately read your emotions, gauge your honesty, or determine your motives. Other characters have disadvantage on insight rolls against you.
