Eleven Artisan Image

You are a member of an elven artisan's order, skilled in a particular field and closely associated with other artisans. You are a well-established part of the mercantile world, freed by talent and wealth from the constraints of a feudal social order. You learned your skills as an apprentice to a master artisan, under the sponsorship of your order, until you became a master in your own right.

Equipment: A set of fine clothes, a set of artisan's tools, a scroll of pedigree, and a purse containing 15 gp
 
Feature: Craft Order

As an established and respected member of an order, you can rely on certain benefits that membership provides. Your fellow order members will provide you with lodging and food if necessary, and pay for your funeral if needed. In some cities and towns, an order outpost offers a central place to meet other members of your profession, which can be a good place to meet potential patrons, allies, or hirelings.

Elven orders often possess tremendous amounts of knowledge. If you are in need of arcane knowledge, your order will grant you it or aid in it's discovery if a good case can be made for why. You can also gain access to powerful magical figures through the order, if you are a member in good standing. Such connections might require the donation of knowledge or magic items to the order's vaults.

You must pay dues of  120 gp per year to the order. If you miss payments for more than 5 years in a row, you must pay back double the owed dues to remain in the order's good graces.

 
Suggested Characteristics

Elven artisans are already amongst the least ordinary people in the world before they set down their tools and take up an adventuring career. Gifted with ancient knowledge and power magic they are often a league above the rest, often looking down on 'simple' craftsmen of the other races. Only the dwarves or nomish craftsmen are held in much regard, however this often simply to acquire their secrets for themselves. Their silver towers however are often the first to fall prey to marauding orcs and goblins, with little help being given by non-evelves expect by those helping to gleam their secrets for themselves.
