Historian

History is a rather broad field of study and as with most historians you may have decided to specialize your study to a particular area of history. Choose the specific area of study you have focused on, or roll on the table below. 

Poring over books, manuscripts, and scrolls for most of your life means you've picked up little bits of eclectic knowledge here and there. Whenever presented with a piece of lore about a person, place, creature, or event, you often know something additional about it. Someone mentions a nearby river, maybe you've read about where a bridge would be located to get across. You find a magic sword in a well with strange etchings and seem to remember reading about a sword just like it that is the bane of the undead. If the subject you think you read about falls under your area of expertise, the information you've read about it will be more in depth and precise, otherwise you only have a passing familiarity with the topic at hand. 

Although your skills and interests are similar to those who study history and the past, your area of study is just as fascinating. Instead of burying your nose in a book or reading through piles of manuscripts in a library, you do your research in pubs, taverns, inns, and anywhere people gather to tell stories. Your area of study is people, tall tales, and local legends as told by everyday folk. Nothing delights you more than a rumor about a ghostly woman in white that haunts the road, or accounts of a local monster only few have ever seen. You know that these stories and folklore are just as important as famous battles and historical figures and preserve them with the same care and respect, while also enjoying a pint with the people who tell them. 

You have a rich and vast collection of stories that you have read or been told and are happy to tell them to anyone who wants to listen. You are such a talented storyteller  that people are happy to trade room and board, or even offer a discount on goods in exchange for one of your stories.
