You aspire to be a master of your adventuring craft, either as an arcane caster studying at the Academy of Nine Towers in Elvenhold, as a performing bard at the Academy of Arts in Bliss, or as a student of the bardic arts, battle mastery, the druidic arts, ranging, roguery, or wizardry at the Amethyst Academy in Fort Amethyst. Perhaps you go to a more niche school for your particular learning needs. No matter what institution you study at, or did study at, you are part of a larger organisation that watches over you, for better or worse.
Discuss with your DM what school you attended, what you learnt there, who the important figures of the school are that your character would know, and where the school is located. You should also discuss whether you graduated, dropped out, are on an adventure as part of your studies, or were expelled from the school.
- Skill Proficiencies: History, and your choice of Arcana, Investigation, or Nature
- Tool Proficiencies: Calligrapher's supplies, and a gaming set of your choice
- Languages: Any one language of your choice
- Equipment: Your school uniform, any one gaming set you are proficient with, one set of calligrapher's supplies, an identifying scroll of enrolment from your school, a class pin, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
When you are in times of need, you can always rely on your school to bail you out. Well, for the most part. While wearing your school uniform or class pin, you may be stopped on the streets by people who know of your school to talk about it and your experiences there. They may treat you better or worse depending on how they feel about your school. Additionally, you have access to all branches of your school, their libraries, and their professors. If your school has dormitories, you may even be able to get yourself and possibly even your companions free boarding while you are visiting campus.
Suggested Characteristics
Academy students are shaped and moulded by the academies they attend, and their personalities are often a mismatch of the different people they encounter at these schools. You may have been taught your ideals at school rather than from your home life, and developed bonds with others there, or to the school itself. The academy may have also amplified your flaws, or left them unchecked, focusing more on your learning.
