Feature: Studious

Dedicating much of your time to study of many fields has given you knowledge that can be useful in certain situations, and allows you to make connections and think of possibilities non-experts couldn't. In addition, your lifestyle as a student generally lends you patience and curiosity where otherwise apathetic and incurious people wouldn't bother going after the information through study. You may be a know-it-all, who always thinks they know best no matter the situation because they're well-studied, or you could be humble and always willing to learn, thoughtfully connecting every experience in the world to reveal deeper meanings and discoveries.

Suggested Characteristics

As a student, you may have many different reasons of how you came to your studies - there may be a subject or field of research you hope to profit from, a question too long gone unanswered, or perhaps you were sent here by your family, willingly or unwillingly. Whatever has brought you here, you thirst for knowledge, and your goal is to learn.

d6 Personality Trait
1 I tend to laser focus on one thing at a time, though I can't pay attention to more than one thing simultaneously.
2 I restlessly jump from subject to subject, and subsequently became a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.
3 I honestly don't care about the material I'm being taught, so long as it gets me somewhere I want to be.
4 I take information in thoughtfully, and am careful how I use it, often keeping my cards close to my chest.
5 I see everything as a smoking gun, and make connections when they are there as often as when they're not.
6 The field I'm interested in often makes people uncomfortable, so I've learned to put people around me at ease in order to lessen their discomfort.
d6 Ideal
1 Inform. Everyone can have their own opinions, but no one is entitled to be uninformed. (Lawful)
2 Forgiveness. Study can be the path to a new life, and can lead someone to the second chance they need. (Good)
3 Transparency. No information should be forbidden, as fear of knowledge is the world's great limiter. (Chaotic)
4 Means. Academic achievement can be a means to an end, commitment to learning just for the joy of it isn't necessarily always correct. (Neutral)
5 Secrets. Each piece of the information that is willingly being handed over to me helps me uncover the secret that unlocks great power. (Evil)
6 Education. It's important that people understand the world around them to avoid misunderstandings. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 I am fascinated by a certain subject and will not rest until I have reached a complete understanding of it.
2 There is a question left to me to answer, and there are dire consequences if I fail.
3 I want to learn everything I can about everything so I'm never caught off guard, and always useful to those who need it.
4 I need to prove myself intelligent enough to claim my rightful place in a selective group.
5 They say knowledge is power, and I need power enough to wreak havoc on an old enemy.
6 I have a dream that many deemed impossible to accomplish, but I am determined to realize it.
d6 Flaw
1 I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with the information I'm learning - all I know is, I like learning it!
2 I feel obligated to share the information I learn when I think it's relevant, even if it's not the most appropriate time.
3 I often get the knowledge I learn all jumbled up, and get confused when I hear contradictory information.
4 I don't want to seem like a know-it-all, so I often stay silent when the information I have could be useful.
5 I rarely pay attention when being told something, being confident I know it already and shouldn't even bother listening.
6 I have no idea how I ended up a student, and often have to play along just to get by - like Imposter's Syndrome, but it's real.

Contacts

Old professors and classmates and their acquaintances can act as references for you, or make your search more difficult, depending on how you treated them.

Variant Student: Researcher

There's a particular field, whether it be natural phenomena, a species of creature, the mechanics of an engineering masterpiece, or some other object of study that you have devoted your life to learning everything about. It is your goal to be able to explain it from top to bottom, and you have set out to find as much information about it as you can. This interest could manifest as an obsession or as a passion, and may or may not impact how you behave around others, and how others see you. It's possible that this area of interest could be something forbidden, or discouraged, but you will not stop at anything in order to find out more.

Variant Feature: This Won't Hurt A Bit

By funneling most of your time into the study of a specific field, you have become something of an expert on your subject, and know more than just about anyone about it. You may be sought out by others who have an interest in your expertise, as you are well known in that field. Your strong interest in this field also motivates your research, which you conduct extensively every time you can. Some people may find the subject and method of your research intrusive or disturbing, but that won't get in your way - it's all for science, after all.
