You're not human.
That's not too much of a shocker, I mean, you live in a town full of non-humans. No, the real surprise is WHAT exactly you are. Whether you be a humanoid slime, a swarm of bees pretending to be human, or something else entirely, one thing is for certain. You're... probably not supposed to be sentient. And you're fully aware of this, making sure that you're never in the spotlight so your secret never gets out.
Normally, that wouldn't be so hard. A little lonely, maybe. But when the town suddenly starts praising you as their hero, things get far harder for you. Whatever happened, it wrapped you up into a strange double life. Now you're desperately trying to deceive an entire town, while beating up whatever threatens your little home.
But hey, you can probably make this work.

Since you come from the ranks of the common folk, you fit in among them with ease. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them. They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you, though they will not risk their lives for you.
