You are among an elite group of hunters that are sworn to protect the natural order and oppose those that threaten the balance created by the Old Guardians. These hunters often serve a druidic circle devoted to the teachings of Chroma, the Wildmother, but are not restricted to Chroma and can be found protecting the druids of Njorda and Synafor. While usually comprised of rangers, fighters and barbarians are also found among the ranks of the Veil Hunters, learning survive and live off the land.
Hunters of the Veil are called upon whenever their druid grove or the natural balance are under threat, and remain ever vigilant for those who seek to destoy the Divine Gate, or Veil, created by the Old Guardians during the Exodus.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Nature, Survival, Stealth and Athletics.
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose from herbalism kit or poisoner's kit.
- Languages: One of your choice.
- Equipment: A staff, a hunting trap, a pendant with the sigil of your grove, a set of traveler's clothes, and a belt puch containing 10 gp.
A Veil Hunter is always welcomed into the home of any who revere the Old Guardians. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
Suggested Characteristics
Use the tables for the outland or faction agent background in the Player's Handbook as the basis for your traits and motivations, modifying the entries when appropriate to suit your identity as a Hunter of the Veil.
Veil Hunters are entrusted to protect their grove, yet they may find a reason to leave and venture elsewhere. Perhaps one of the higher-ups of the Hunters or even the archdruid from your circle has tasked you with dealing with a threat to the grove, or maybe you have left to experience the natural world and gain further knowledge and your own understanding of the Old Guardians.
