Whether found in a dark time in life, or by misplaced intrigue, you have found yourself relying on substances to bring comfort and a sense of being. At first it was just a one time thing, a way to escape life for but a moment. However, you were not prepared for the rush, the energy, the confidence. Now you find yourself unable to be away from it. Every fix is simply one less for the future. And you need it. 

 
 
Feature: Take a Hit

Once every three days, you will feel the substance in your system begin to dissapate and you will feel the need to replenish it by inhaling a supply of the substance. For the five minutes directly after, you have advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution checks and saves, and disadvantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma checks and saves. The following five minutes, you suffer one point of exaustion before returning to your normal state as you regain strength. 

 
Suggested Characteristics

Those suffering addiction may be looked down upon by society without an attempt to understand their reasoning for using a substance. They can be affected in many different ways and can even be unknown to those around them. Addiction is an illness and with a strong support group, every person can achieve and does deserve a chance to overcome this ailment and move forward stronger than they were.

 
Variant Feature: Withdrawal

If you go more than three days without your substance, you begin to feel the effects of withdrawal:

After the three days, you begin to crave the substance, every day roll a D20, on a 1-9 you are overcome with your need to use your substance, on a 10-20 you are able to suppress the urge. 

After five days, your body needs the substance, you suffer one point of exaustion as you feel weak and drained without it. 

After a week, your body begins to fight the need for the substance and you begin to feel violently sick as if you are fighting a disease. Every day roll a D20, on a 1-9 your max HP diminishes by 2D6 - your Constitution modifier, on a 10-20 your max HP is unaffected. This is regained following a long rest, however must be rerolled at the next dawn.

After three weeks, you suffer three more points of exaustion as your body begins to desperately need the substance it has learned to rely on. You no longer need to roll at the beginning of each day. 

At the end of the fourth week, you begin to feel better and your withdrawal begins to subside. Each day you lose one level of exaustion beginning at fourth level until you find yourself at full strength and no longer reliant on your substance.

At any point during withdrawal, a Greater Restoration spell imediately ends the withdrawal and you are no longer reliant on your substance.
