Rock bottom is a place that a Servant of Orthax knows far too well. Never has a soul ever come to Orthax, The Vengeful Shadow Demon, out of a wholesome desire. No, instead his servants come to him out of a desperate, bitter, and vengeful need to continue. A person who becomes a Servant of Orthax cannot seek him out of their own free will, for Orthax does not deal with those whose hearts are not filled with a total lust for vengeance. In order to become a servant of Orthax your heart, mind, and soul, must be totally enveloped in the need for vengeance and the rage that comes with it. For such a condition will call out to Orthax and if these feelings are strong enough, he will appear to you as a smoking apparition and offer you a path towards Vengeance. In exchange for this power and opportunity, one must kill those they seek revenge on by using the weapon given to them by Orthax, as being killed by a Weapon of Vengeance steal's the Victim's soul and gives their soul to Orthax to feed on. Orthax typically appears in dreams or in the time of Death as both places protect Orthax from reprisal from any being in the physical realm.
A huge drawback of becoming a Servant of Orthax is that the Character must always check their feelings with those they interact with. For if any feeling of revenge is expressed, even in the smallest amount, Orthax will add it to the list of souls you must reap for him in order to be free of his influence.
- Tool Proficiencies: A Servant of Orthax has Proficiency with either Tinkerer's Tools, or Smithing Tools, depending on the Weapon of Vengeance Orthax directs you to make.
- Languages: A Servant of Orthax will be able to read, write, and Speak Abyssal, and know the language(s) of those that have earned the Character's vengeance.
When in contact with those that have wronged the Character or those associated with the beings that have transgressed against the Character, a Black Smoke rises and excretes from the Character's body, in addition to their eyes going black and the Iris of their eyes becoming Orange or Red. When the Vengeful Haze begins, a character will have advantage on their attack rolls and can add 1d4 damage to the stats of their Weapon of Vengeance. This comes with a great risk and potential cost however as the Servant will only be able to focus on their target, leaving them open to any attack from others which would impose the "Surprised" condition. Or even worse, if a friend or neutral individual tries to break their focus, then the Servant must make a Wisdom saving throw higher than a DC 14. If the save is failed then the Servant will use their weapon once on those who interrupted them. On a Successful Save the Servant will still turn their weapon on the interfering party, but will break their focus entirely before using their weapon.
