You are the Rebis, an artificial creature made by the Thelgurian Empire. The Rebis is the conclusion of the Great Work of alchemy. It is a perfect being, the divine hermaphrodite, the beginning and end of all life. As the Rebis, you are able to alter your being and assume different states of existence, known as Formes, each with its own traits and abilities. After your birth, you are not used to your mutable nature, and have difficulty controlling your Formes. As you mature, you will either grow into the being you were created to be, or lose yourself to the chaos that lies deep inside.
- Skill Proficiencies: Each Forme has its own strengths. Choose any one skill proficiency.
- Tool Proficiencies: Each Forme has its own strengths. Choose any one tool proficiency.
After each long rest, randomly determine which Forme you assume. As you mature, you gain more control over this trait:
- Starting at 5th level, you may choose to skip your next regular transformation. If you do, you cannot use this ability again until after your next transformation. This ability cannot be used on transformations forced by the DM.
- Starting at 11th level, you can choose which Forme you take during your regular transformation, including remaining in your current Forme. This does not apply to transformations forced by the DM.
- Starting at 17th level, you have gained mastery over your Formes. You are no longer forced to transform after a long rest. Additionally, you can spend 10 minutes concentrating to change into a Forme of your choice. During this time, you are considered unconscious.
The DM can force a Forme change at their discretion, either randomly or specifically chosen.
If you die, you dissolve into a mercury-like substance and quickly evaporate, as well as any mutable equipment you are carrying or wearing. After 1d6/2 + 1d8/2 (rounded up) hours, you materialize in your Unstable Forme nearby. You are no longer able to assume the Forme you died in, with the following exceptions:
- You cannot lose the Divine Hermaphrodite Forme. If you die while in this Forme, it is not removed from your pool of possible Formes.
- If you die while in Unstable Forme, you cannot regenerate and are permanently dead.
Suggested Characteristics
While you have your own personality, each of your Formes has its own quirks that may affect your thoughts and behavior.
