They say there is a sucker born every minute. Regardless, exploiting people for money is your forte. Whether for survival or the challenge of it, you've learned how to manipulate people and situations for profit. A fool and their money are easily parted and in your experience everyone can be made a fool under the right conditions. Short cons, long cons, you've done them all. Of course, knowing when you should move along to fresher fields, as it were, before your marks become an angry mob has kept you from settling down. You tend to travel a lot, fleecing the rubes for awhile and then finding somewhere else to be. The next con is never far away, and you intend to be the one to pull it off.
- Skill Proficiencies: Deception, Insight, and Sleight of Hand
- Tool Proficiencies: All game sets available per the campaign setting
- Languages: Pick one: Elvish, Dwarvish, Gnomish, or Halfling
- Equipment: Traveler's clothes, 5 days of Rations, 2 game sets of your choice, and a pouch containing 10gp
Feature: Know When to Fold 'em
The hardest lesson to learn when performing a con is to know when to walk away. Afterall, angry mobs or town guards are complications best avoided. When performing a con, you gain advantage on Insight checks to ascertain if anyone has become suspicious or your intentions or figured out your con.
Suggested Characteristics
Always being on the lookout for a good con makes it difficult to relate with others on a genuine level. Constantly judging everyone as a potential mark and assessing every situation for its profit potential puts a serious damper on forming real relationships. Of course, never laying down any sort of roots leads to a lonely life. Some folk are just made for such a life, while others secretly long for lasting companionships. However, finding adventure on the road, wanted or not, is relatively easy.
