Inquisitor

You understand that heretics walk the ground in your midst. You were tasked to root them out, or even clear an enemy of your deity from the area. You may be new to your religion and this is your first task, or you have been walking this path for a while. Do you care for the people, or are they just pawns in your way as you crush the heretics?

Work with your DM to determine how much authority your inquisitor carries. An Inquisitor title doesn’t stand on its own—it’s connected to a temple, and deity. Not only do you need to determine the amount of power you hold, but you should also work with the DM to establish how your religion is thought of in the region.

Is your Temple old and established, or was your temple only recently established in the region? How much influence do they wield, and over what area? What kind of reputation does your deity have among the the locals of the region? How do the common people regard them?

Does your temple have a symbol. All inquisitors keep this symbol on them. Whether as a weapon hilt, an emblem on a sheild, or even as an amulet.

Receiving the title of Inquisitor is looked down on in most societies, which is why many use a cover story. If you wish to be an Inquisitor, you will have access to a spy network, including 3 vassels. They merely report to you the information that has been reported to them to have delivered to you.

Inquisitors are chosen by their deity, or tasked by their temple to perform tasks for their deity that others may not be suited for. An inquisitor follows the codes of their deity to the letter. Sometimes an inquisitor is hunted by agents of the enemies of his deity, other times the inquisitor is the hunter. Rooting out heretics, and driving untruth out of the people that follow your deity. You may even just be tasked to defend a temple, or go and retrieve a relic. Perhaps someone has been threatened for preaching about your religion and you are tasked to stop this.
