You were physically exiled to the Nine Hells by magical means, and you survived by making contracts with powerful devils in exchange for service to their causes. You escaped with the aid of friends who died to save you, and you are alone yet alive in the Material Plane. Time passed without you, and what you knew when you were first alive has passed long before. You are an old defiant soul in a world changed.

The nature of your release from Hell freed you from your fiendish contracts -- but it has made you a mark for all the denizens of the Nine Hells. Devils, demons, or fiends you meet will know you were intervened on and will be quick to make claim on your soul by stripping it from your lifeless body.
