Because you grew up in the city the college is named after, your working class parents were actually able to afford the in-city tuition offered by the college to give you the opportunity to attend. Because you start out middle of the pack, you seem to blend into the crowd socially. It's up to you whether you make connections with the legacies or find your study group with the scholarship kids. 

Because in-city tuition doesn't cover food or lodging, it's up to you whether you take out loans to stay in the dormitories on campus or if you live at home and commute. While living at home is the more cost effective, at the beginning of each day you must roll a d20 to determine whether or not you make it to school on time. If you choose to take out a loan to stay on campus, you'll owe 20 gold at the end of each term. If you don't have the cash at the end of the term, 1 gold is added every day you don't pay up.
