Traveling the world in search of new markets and products is what you do. Anyone can open a shop in a town and grow fat, but exploring new marketplaces is where the action is... Along with the potential for even greater profits. Wheeling and dealing is your way of life, and the best place to do that is out in the world.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Persuasion
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of vehicle
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A cart and mule, a set of traveler's clothes, and a pouch containing 20 gp.
You can use the numerous connections you made on your travels to advertise your trading needs. When buying or selling magic items or similar products, you find two offers instead of one for every workweek you spend searching. You make separate Charisma (Persuasion) checks for each offer, and you can choose which offer to accept. You can always opt not to buy or sell, instead forfeiting the workweek of effort and trying again later.
At your DM's discretion, you can also access your network to learn rumors or spread them yourself. The rumors usually involve mercantilism, but they might offer knowledge on potential quest opportunities, too.
Suggested Characteristics
Traveling merchants are that rare breed of accountant and explorer. While making money is important, seeing new places and interacting with new people are just as essential.
