Farmer

You have spent your life on the farm. Your Daddy was a farmer, his Daddy was a farmer, his Daddy's Daddy was a farmer and so on and so forth for as far back as anyone can remember. It's honest work, and it's something to be proud of. Farming has given you an inherent understanding of the land, the weather, and the nuances that signal the changing of the seasons; how to care for animals, and how to be self-sufficient when times get tough. You're no stranger to hard work, especially when there's a cold homemade cider waiting for you at the end of the day. 

Choose a type of farm and your role in keeping it running. Were you a dairy farmer, up before dawn to make sure the cows were milked every day? Or perhaps you were a grain grower, accustomed to long days with a sickle in hand under a blistering Sun. Were your Winter's spent by the fire, looking out the window with expectation at rows of beautiful blossoming fruit trees? Maybe you kept bees, selling honey and wax at the local markets? Whatever the case, it's likely that you are familiar with the gods and goddesses whose dominions directly affect your life as a farmer. Do you maintain faith with one of these, or do you make different offerings and prayers at different times throughout the year?

Finally, you should consider what has caused you to leave such an idyllic and peaceful life: Was there an Orc or Bandit raid you narrowly escaped from? Has there been a devastating blight or drought that has caused you to lose everything? Or are you simply a seasonal Adventurer, returning home in Spring or Summer to tend to your animals and pastures? After all, who can resist the opportunity to make a little extra gold when things are quiet...

Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling, and choose two from Nature, Religion, Survival, Perception

Tool Proficiencies: You grew up around horses, wagons, and all manner of other beasts of burden native to the area. Discuss with your DM to decide which Land Vehicles are suitable for your backstory, and you gain proficiency with them.

Equipment: A set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 3 gp. A choice between a sickle or a light hammer

Suggested Characteristics

Farmers are shaped by generations of blood, sweat and tears, working the land their forebears have called home. Their methods are many and varied, but often revolve around the traditions and ideals of their local community as much as from their lineage. Those traditions often include feast sacrifices to various gods, or observation of faiths important to those at the mercy of the weather. While Farmers usually have good intentions and would bend over backwards to help a neighbour in need, their isolation can sometimes lead to backwards thinking or even downright hostility towards "outsiders".
