Abominable Parent Image

Have you ever noticed how there are so many abandoned and orphaned kids about the world? Suffice it to say it's partly your fault, and not just in the way you first think. Sure you abandoned your progeny. But you had a good reason.

Your child is a monster.

Not just like when they were a toddler they would cause havoc, and destroy things. Like, the reason there are so many orphans, is your child has killed a lot of people.

Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in Stealth and insight.
Languages: You gain proficiency in two languages, one common, one that the monster within your child speaks.
Equipment: You have a disguise kit, a tent, and a keepsake from your child.

Cause of the curse

What is the cause that sent your child down a path of darkness?

d8 Cause of the curse
1 Your child was cursed by hags in recompense for a wrong they perceive you committed.
2 Your spouse was a monster themselves. While they may have had control, on their passing, your child was lost to the dark impulses of their nature.
3 Possessed. A ritual was conducted by a cult you were a part of. Instead of placing a dead friend's spirit into a fresh corpse, a malevolent spirit found its way into your child. They immediately slaughtered the members of the cult who knew how to remove the spirit.
4 Adoption gone wrong. You found the infant desperate and alone, abandoned in a desolate area, and took them in. As they grew, the demon spawn in them began to blossom, until one day you return home to find your spouse and other children dead at their hands.
5 Sadistic. Some children are just born evil. Even from an early age you could see they lacked empathy, and concern for anyone but themselves. They preyed upon the weak, and coveted power. You had to turn them into the constable when you realized they had killed. Somehow, they got out, and they are worse than ever.
6 You're the monster. You were so desperate to accomplish some task, or to prove some idea, you used your own child as a part of your experiment. Now, they're barely human.
7 Your ancestor made a deal with a demon, surrendering one of his descendants for any purpose the demon desired. Your child has become an avatar for denizens of the planes of hell.
8 Lost in the woods, you happened upon a fey creature who seduced you. The result of your meeting became a child of chaos, using magics to cause calamity and sorrow as a means of entertaining its broken mind.

Feature: Journey for Recompense

You have to make things right. Where ever you travel you see evidence of the harm you've wrought on the world. Once per day you can harness the the guilt and determination you feel, and gain a second action on one of your turns in combat. You regain the expended use at the end of the day.
