Runaway Betrothed

Not all relationships have a happy ending, as you know. Whether it was because of simple incompatibilities or something worse, you left your betrothed waiting for you at the altar. They could have been abusive, had awful parents, expected you to be who you aren’t—or maybe they just weren’t the one for you.
When building your character, consider how their experience shaped them. What caused them to run, and how does that affect them now? Did they uproot their entire life and more to a far away city, or did they hide at home until things blew over? Do they still have contact with the ex, or have they not seen them in years?
